The Culzean Camp Site is located some 12 miles south west of Ayr. It is
situated within the Culzean Country Park, which is owned by the National
Trust for Scotland.
The site can be located on Sheet 76 of the Ordinance Survey Landranger series at grid Reference 244 100.
The site, which is open from May to September, has a peaceful woodland setting with four camping areas of varying size, and ample facilities with which to practice traditional scoutcraft. with the Country Park (the Ranger Service is available for a reasonable fee/donation), Visitors Centre and Culzean Castle itself on the doorstep and superb sandy beaches and rocky coastline within easy walking distance, the site is ideal for either week-end or summer camps.
For all camps organised for Cub Scouts, Scouts or Explorer Scouts, the level of Nights Away Certificate required is Level 2(Camp site)

The site is connected to the
mains water supply. It has modern toilet facilities with hot and cold
water and includes ladies and gents showers. There is a separate disabled
toilet. A utilities hut provides dish and clothes washing facilities and
a fridge/freezers. All hot water is controlled by the use of coin operated
slot meters (20p & 50p). A tumble drier is also available using a coin operated slot meter (£1.00). There is a pay phone on site and a small shop selling a small range of badges and souvenirs which will open at agreed times.
Cooking by open fire is permitted, but only using altar fires in designated areas.; these are available on request. Firewood is normally available in the woodstore but will possibly require to be cut by the campers. There is a campfire circle and arrangements can be made with the warden for suitable firewood.

The facilities of the Country Park are freely available to Groups using the camp site.

From the North on the A77, in Maybole turn right onto the B7023 ( signposted Culzean, Maidens) and in 50 m turn left (still on the B7023). At a sign for Culzean Country Park turn right into the Park. The campsite is 100 m on the left (before the Paybox).
From the South on the A77 - At Turnberry, turn left onto the A719 (signposted Maidens and Culzean). Pass through Maidens and at sign for Culzean Country Park, turn left into the Park. The campsite is 100 m on the left (before the Paybox).
The nearest station is at Maybole which is 3 miles from the site. Maybole is on the Glasgow-Ayr-Stranraer Line.
There is a regular bus service between Ayr and Girvan(via Maidens) which passes the entrance to Culzean Country Park on the A719.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is situated some 20 miles north of the camp site and has regular flights from London and many European cities. The airport has a regular bus and train service to Ayr.
Situated a further 35 miles north is BAA Glasgow Airport, again with many regular services from throughout Europe.

The Park offers numerous walks of varying length via woodland, cliff and shore line. Guided walks can be arranged with the Park's Ranger Service. The Castle and Visitors Centre are well worth a visit.
There is good hillwalking to be found in the Galloway Hills, which are within an hour's drive. Nearer at hand, just north of the site are the Carrick Hills (maximum height under 300m).
This can be booked at the Shanter Riding School at Turnberry.
Sea angling can be booked in Ayr or Girvan and trout fishing as a man-made lochan (sure to land a catch) can be booked at Springwater Fisheries, Dalrymple ( Telephone 01292 560343).
Pools can be found at Maybole and Ayr.
This is located on the A719, just south of Ayr, at the Heads of Ayr.
This world famous site is located on the A719 between Culzean and Ayr. Have you ever experienced a car rolling up hill? This is within walking distance of the campsite via Croy Bay Beach
The birth place of Robert Burns is located at Alloway, and Burns Cottage is
opened to visitors. There is also the Tam O'Shanter Experience at Alloway, The
Auld Kirk, Burns Monument and the famous Brig O'Doon.
Souter Johnnie's
Cottage can be found at Kirkoswald.

There is a Somerfields Supermarket in Maybole, also butchers and bakers.
There is a choice of larger supermarkets in Ayr as well as a full range of shops typical of county and holiday town.
Girvan also has a supermarket and range of shops.

A non-refundable deposit of £10.00 is required with all bookings. No bookings will be accepted without a deposit
Groups who require sole use of the site should contact the Warden for details of charges.
Requests for dates, verbal or written, must be confirmed within 14 days, using the official booking form, after which time they may not be honoured.
